Moses was one of the most fascinating people in the Bible. He was called to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt and into Canaan. Moses never reached Canaan; he died at the age of 120 with Canaan in sight. He spent 1/3rd of his life or 40 years wandering and missing out on the blessings that had been set aside for him in Canaan…the so-called Land of Milk and Honey.

It wasn’t because he couldn’t find it. GOD was with him, so he was never lost. It wasn’t because he wasn’t worthy. If he weren’t worthy, he would have never been called. It wasn’t because the distance was too great. He was plenty strong to finish the journey. Moses, one of the greatest leaders in history didn’t reach Canaan because while he was wandering through the wilderness…Moses forgot to listen. GOD gave Moses strict instruction on what to do and instead of doing it as he was told, Moses decided to do it his way…and it cost him dearly.

For some of us, large parts of life itself have been your Egypt; that wilderness of yesterday where nothing seemed to go your way. Today is your Canaan…your Land of Milk and Honey; when everything will finally come together. But in order to get there…you must be willing to do things that Moses wasn’t willing to do.

First, you must be willing to listen to HIM. Listen and don’t question. Listen, let GOD and let go of situations, circumstances, past hurts and people; especially people. The other mistake Moses made aside from being unwilling to listen is that he wasted time trying to convince others that there was something better…that their dreams were meant to come true. Sound familiar? I know it does for me.

Most of us have wasted time trying to convince others that there is something better…a better life out there all the while missing out on the blessings that have been set aside for us. You got to leave those persons in Egypt. You got to leave those persons in yesterday. You are about to march into Canaan.

This is your day. You got to leave some people behind because they just don’t get it. Doesn’t mean you love them any less…doesn’t mean you stop praying for them…doesn’t’ mean you stop caring. Believe it or not…some people prefer being in Egypt…so let them stay there. This is your day; it’s your Canaan…so march boldly into it! It may be hard to leave some people behind and it may sound harsh but in the words of a dear, dear old friend of mine…everybody ain’t meant to go to Canaan!
